·      The consequences of Chinese weakness for the dissolution of regional order in the Far East in the 19th and 20th centuries;

·      The amplifying effect of Japanese and Western imperial ambitions on said dissolution;

·      The regional and global consequences of the Communist victories in China, North Korea, and Vietnam;
and

·      The influence of global politics on the onset, conduct, and consequences of war in Asia in modern times.
