2.4 Secretary of the Council

The post of Secretary of the Council shall be held by the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs of the Naval Postgraduate School.
The responsibilities of the Secretary are as follows:
- to serve as meeting Chair for Council meetings in the absence of the Council's Chair;
- to administer all correspondence of the Council, including oversight of the agenda package for each meeting, and to serve as the Council's point-of-contact for the School;
- to allocate tasks to the standing committees of the Council according to their by-direction authority;
- to confer with parties submitting agenda items which are not appropriate for Council consideration, referring the party to the appropriate office for consideration;
- to execute by-direction authority as indicated in this document;
- to make administrative changes to the Manual as required;
- to designate the Recording Secretary of the Council.
