Course Learning Outcomes

  • Understand the basic concept of atmospheric and oceanic turbulence, turbulence fluxes, and scales
  • Understand the atmospheric flux-profile relationships and its theoretical and empirical bases
  • Understand the basic methods for obtaining turbulence fluxes, including surface flux parameterizations
  • Understand the assumptions and governing equations of the ocean mixed layer and the physical processes affecting the entrainment/detrainment in the surface layer
