Advanced techniques of model development and simulation experimentation. Discussion of current research. Actual topics selected will depend on interests of students and Instructor.
The objective of this course is to familiarize you with some of the many options available to
develop and apply a design of experiment to a simulation model and subsequently analyze the resulting output. Specific learning objectives are to:
• Gain an appreciation for the breadth and depth of data that can result from simulations that are in use by the DoD through selected case studies.
• Generate a design of experiment using a variety of methods and develop an understanding of the pros and cons of different design options.
• Analyze data resulting from a designed experiment using a variety of methods, depending on the goal of the experiment. For example, typical goals are:
• Construct a valid confidence interval for mean performance at steady state in the presence of serial correlation and initial transient.
