NU3209 Deformation, Fracture and Failure Analysis
Elastic and plastic deformation, fracture theory, impact transition behavior and fracture toughness concepts, ductile and brittle failure, creep, stress relaxation, fatigue, corrosion and combined failure modes. Introduction to concepts of failure analysis. (This course is taught at Naval Nuclear Power School and not at Naval Postgraduate School. The course contents and credits are periodically reviewed and approve by NPS faculty with expertise in this subject area.) Graded pass/fail only.
