NU3159 Heat Transfer

Conduction, convection, and combined mode heat transfer. Steady state and transient conduction using field equations. Single- and two-phase heat transfers are presented, along with applications to steam generators and condensers. Detailed analysis of heat exchangers and cooling systems with film and drop-wise condensation, along with the description of critical heat flux and the modes of equipment failure. (This course is taught at Naval Nuclear Power School and not at Naval Postgraduate School. The course contents and credits are periodically reviewed and approved by NPS faculty with expertise in this subject area.) Graded pass/fail only.
