DA3450 Open Source Data Analysis

In this course, students will learn to use "Big Data" to answer "Big Questions." The course focuses on the use of open source data and open source software, and walks students through writing computer commands which will allow them to automate the formatting, merging, and analysis of large datasets, with the goal of allowing students to tap into the global explosion of data resources which are increasingly available through online media, using freely available tools that can be employed in diverse environments that may lack access to expensive proprietary software.
